To Whom It May Concern:
The inaugural year of The Racing Kangaroos has been an outstanding year for junior cycling development both on and off the bike. The riders have performed well in all aspects of the team environment. Sure, we have had a few teething problems, which were expected as this is the first time that this development environment has been trialled within junior cycling.
With the 2010 year now finalised, plans are well underway for the 2011 season. There are riders from the 2010 team who have progressed into the mens elite age division and there are 4 riders from the 2010 team who have declined the opportunity again due to other commitments. To keep the interest in junior team cycling, in August an expression of interest calling for riders to apply for The Racing Kangaroos was launched.
We had an overwhelming response to the launch with 96 junior riders sending through their reply. Due to the large number, the talent of the applicants, and having limited places available; to be fair and equitable to all the applicants we have had to manage the selection process differently to the inaugural year. The final phase of the selection process will be attended to by holding a selection weekend in Feburary 2011. The 2011 team should prove to be stronger and even more dedicated than in 2010.
In addition to the male riders, we have had numerous responses from female riders who also wish to ride for The Racing Kangaroos. This will certainly prove to be an exciting time of growth for The Racing Kangaroos.
From our commitment in developing these junior cyclists both on and off the bike and through your assistance we have succeded with the inagural year. A brief of the overall results for the first season were:
