_Cycling
is increasingly gaining a huge following in Australia and it is a sport
and activity for all ages, both male and female! It provides some of
the greatest spectacles in world sport with the 3 Grand Tours and the
Spring Classics. The riders winning these races become national heroes
and role models for many people.
For the recreational cyclist it is a great way to explore the outdoors and an excellent form of non impact and aerobic fitness.
For the competitive cyclist racing is a way of life, an addiction, a way of turning all the lonely miles into a finished product – a result. Whether they are first or last, it doesn’t matter to the ones who mean the most to them in their eyes, their family, or their friend’s – they are winners.
Then we have the professional cyclist, it’s his job, day in day out. A job you might say? Riding a bike every day?? How can you call that work??? To the pro cyclist it is work – working to get the best results for the team, but there is only one winner. Cycling is a team sport and each rider has a job, that job falls into categories and those categories are; domestics, climbers and sprinters.
In 2009, Australian born, Heinrich Haussler burst to world prominence by winning a stage of this Tour De France and for three month he held the number one spot in the UCI world road rankings.
Heinrich started his love of cycling at the age of 7 on the roads of the Northern NSW town of Inverell. At the age of 14 Heinrich and his family made the heart wrenching decision to chase a dream of being a professional cyclist – that dream is now very much a reality.
Today there are thousands of young cyclists around Australia, and the world who also have that dream of one day being a Pro-Cyclist.
That dream is now a little closer for some. Heinrich has a keen interest in developing junior cyclists and has signed on as the major sponsor of a new team comprising of cyclists from the ages of U15’s to U19’s.
The team will be known as THE RACING KANGAROOS
