Competed at the Goldstars Jnr Carnival at Nerang Qld on Sunday 15 May. My results where:
TT - First place
Criterium - First Place (20 minutes + 3 laps)
Road Race - Second (40 minutes + 3 laps)
Roller Derby - 1st place
There was a good field of riders including Mitchell Gale. The time trial was a prologue of 800 metres and I only just got first place by 1 second. Crits are my passion and have become more confident and learning to lead not follow, I place 1st. The Road Race was on a good circuit and there were many attacks during the race and I end up with a second (2nd). The roller derby was a fun event and it tested your speed on the rollers, I qualified fastest and won the final.
Goulburn 28 - 29 May 2011
This was my first ride at Goulburn and have an eventful couple of days and I was also sick with the flu. The first day was a TT and I got eight. The next stage was the road race and team had me in a perfect position about 3 kms from the finish and I crashed. The bike and I survived and I managed to finish the stage, a bit disappointing after the team work hard to set the stage up for a win, but this is racing. The next day, a bit sore and stiff I competed in the TT and then the road race and was happy with second place. The kangaroos worked hard as a team and we pulled ourselves inside out to reconnect with the break away group, we all did it and it was an awesome feeling with three Cervelos driving it!
Tamworth 2 Day Tour 11-12 June 2011
It was great not having to travel 6-8 hours to compete, just down the road! Great Kangaroo camp Mark, the rain held off and we got to racing all weekend. For me it was a personal achievement to get the yellow jersey two years in a row. I finished first in the road race - stage I, second in the road race - stage II, first in the time trail - stage III and first in the final stage. Got some 'tips' from Kurt - 'put newspaper down your shirt when training to keep the wind off your chest' tried this the other night and it works. It is great to go away and compete with the Kangaroo team, all the parents are supportive, Mick in the spares vehicle looking after the wheels and Kurt there to help and give advise on the side. A big thank you to Donna for all the organisation.
